The DoP (Department of Passport) has now targeted to substitute all the timeworn visas (handwritten) by MRP (Machine Readable Passports) by Nov 2015. Since 16th December 1010 the section has circulated about 1.5 million MRPs.

Presently DoP creates 4000 visas a day and per month 100,000 in figure. According to DG Khanal they had by this time started to raise the manufacture up to 6000. He also further said if things go according to their plot they will be able to hand out around 1.2 million MRPs by November 2015. Amid 1.5 million NRNs only 87,443 has transformed their visas to MRP by Nepali legations so far.
