According to the SP Mahasud Alam Kha of the Sunsari District Police office, all the 56 flood gates of saptakoshi barrage has been open as part of risk reduction work to blocked the Sunkoshi River.
Since early this morning, Sunkoshi River was blocked by massive landslide. Nepal Army detonated two explosives. The water level in the river downstream has increased as compared to the regular one. Many people believe that resumption of river flow will put off possible damages. Home Minister Bamdev Gautam said, the situation has been critical & the government is working its best to resolve the problem as soon as possible. He added, 200 meter areas along Saptakoshi River on both sides have been declared as stage of emergency.
