What is mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma is a kind of cancer which affects the lungs and makes it a difficult situation for the people to face. The cause of this disease is the contact to asbestos. Asbestos most likely happened in the earlier period. But whatever the disease maybe, the support of families, friends and the medical people will always be there for emotional and practical support. This information guides you people about how this disease is formed, its symptoms, the precautions, healing options and how people can lead their beautiful lives with good health.

By the word mesothelioma, we can know that it is a kind of cancer as written above. It is also called “malignant mesothelioma” in other words. Mesothelioma is pronounced as ‘mee-zoh-thee-oh-mah’. It usually is seen in the lungs area or in the pleura which is a slight coating in the chest.

This disease is also found in the tummy or the heart area which is also like a thin lining. Here in this paragraph we talk about the affects that occur in the chest of the human beings or people. The chest pat of the human body consists of two lining levels which is also called pleura. The coating in the chest is as thin as the layer of the balloon or as thin as the paper.

The eternal cover defences the inside part of the rib cage where as the internal cover defences the lungs. The gap between the internal and external cover is called the pleural gap which generally consists of little amount of liquid. This liquid greases the two shells. It also allows the chest and the lung barrier to move and enlarge as you exhale and inhale the air.

Mesothelioma usually occurs in the external level but then it slowly extends to the internal level of the lungs. A disease called ‘tumor’ also produces a lot of liquid or fluid that constructs in the pleural gap in the region of the lungs.

This arises to compression of the soft lungs which will make the human feel difficult to breathe in and out.

What are the causes of mesothelioma?

The first and foremost source of mesothelioma is breathing the asbestos dirt. This kind of dust is a rubbery or leathery substance that was commonly used before people knew about its harmful effects to the heath of the living people.

Those buildings which were erected before the year 2000 may consists of this harmful dust called asbestos. This dust is generally found in the insulation, ground or roof of the buildings. This asbestos was mostly used in the pipeline insulation and was scattered on the ceiling and the fence area.

But nowadays this kind of dust is not used anymore. It is firmly forbidden to be used in the places around the UK. There are even severe rules and regulations about the use of asbestos and eliminating the present asbestos found securely or carefully.

But since mesothelioma needs a long time period to grow, the people having the symptoms of this disease may have been already found out in the past years.
