The Indian doctors have extracted 232 teeth from the mouth of seventeen year teenage boy in seven hour operation. Ashik Gavai had been suffering for 18 month; he was brought in dental hospital with swelling in his right jaw.
He moved to the city from his remote village after local doctors unable to identify the cause of the problem. The doctors have explained his condition as very rare and world record. Ashik malaise was diagnosed as complex merged odontoma where a single gum forms many teeth.

It’s a sort of begin tumours said, Dr. Dhiware. At first, we can’t cut it out so we had to use the basic hammer and chisel to remove it out. When we opened it little pearl like teeth started coming out one by one. Initially we were collecting them but they were like small white pearls.

Later we started to get tired of counting. We have counted 232 teeth, she said. The operation was held on Monday, including tow surgeons and two assistants. Now, Ashik has 28 teeth. According to Dr. Dhiware said, Ashik’s case is very rare and she had not seen anything like this before in her 30 years career.
