Student learning Magar Languages in School

There has been an outstanding increase in the admission of the students after the foundation of the new primary institute which is generally focused on the magar language.
This institute has been established for the first time in chidipani, dhaireni where the magar language is used as the medium of communication between the teachers and students. The number of students doubled up soon in a very less time since its opening; from 60 to 150 students.

This school has started schooling from class 1 to 3. The principal of this school, Gopi Krishna Acharya, says, “There is also class 4 and 5 where the learner can learn and read non-compulsory topics in the magar language”. As per the officials, “within the magar languages present in the magar municipal, the lessons are generally taught in the paang language”.

They even added, “The magar community’s approval made it possible to start this school”. “Since every people as well as the students speak in the magar language in their family and they hardly spoke in the national language, it was a little bit difficult to teach the students in the nepali language at the initial phase of the schooling but it is easy now to teach the students there is no complications in the communication with the teacher and the students”, says educator of the magar language, Mana thapa magar.

The students mostly are from the magar municipal. Mana thapa magar herself prepares the text books for class 1, 2 and 3. The text books of class 4 and 5 are on the way to the completion. For the science subject, Tila gaha has completed making it in the magar language.

The students also are very happy since it has been easier for them to understand. They are also very interested in learning new things now and active.

Only the other subjects excluding the Nepali and the English subject are taught in the magar language.
